Mid-Year 2021: My Top 50 of 2021

Hello and welcome to a special My Top 40 (or 50 in this case) post! Essentially this post will just be the Top 50 of the year so far of 2021 that was featured on Crown note. To be honest, only 98 songs have charted so far, therefore more songs will be listed here than not, which is a first. Anyways, I'll jump straight into, I'll list a few stats and we'll move on, I may talk about my thoughts for the higher songs, but for now, simple listings will do.

Points: 57,830
Peak: #6 (2020) #6 (2021)
Weeks: 3 (2020) 26 (2021)

This song is honestly great and I'm surprised it's even in the Top 10. This is definitely one of Shawn's best songs, he doesn't try to go for anything crazy, just a simple love song. Honestly, that little guitar towards the end of the song really hits though.

9. Dua Lipa - Physical
Points: 59,350
Peak: #4
Weeks: 23

I know I was VERY late to this one, but at first, this song was good, but it definitely wasn't built for a volatile personal of mine. Coming back on it, this one had potential and when I let it on, it flourished very well. Considering how this is 1 of 3 Dua Lipa songs in the Top 10, that's a nice start.

8. Surf Mesa/Madison Beer - Carried Away*
Points: 63,100
Peak: #3
Weeks: 19

This song took me by surprise when I first listened to it. I know that Surf Mesa is used to making more slower type, love, electronic songs (Exhibit A ily), but past that this is definitely the superior one. Just the melody and production, along with Madison Beer's voice, everything is very cohesive here which is nice.

7. YOASOBI - Yoru ni Kakeru*
Points: 65,551
Peak: #6
Weeks: 26

The international hit in this chart's entirely, it's crazy to think that I saw this watching a video of Japan's Top 100 of 2020 (this was #1). Beyond just the statistics, this song is amazing. I have some idea what the lyrics are getting too, but the voice and especially that instrumental make the song almost magical I guess.

6. Bastille/Kenny Beats - Goosebumps
Points: 75,140
Peak: #4
Weeks: 25

This song honestly was so down-low, like it never really was mentioned that often or recognized by many, including myself. Despite that, this song is great, it's very simple, but Bastille manages to make a cohesive piece that honestly you can just vibe too whenever.

5. Anne-Marie/KSI/Digital Farm Animals - Don't Play
Points: 93,348
Peak: #6
Weeks: 18

It's very weird to be seeing songs not in the Top 3 getting this high, granted it's only been half a year, but even then it has some nice space between it and Goosebumps. Anyway, this song is definitely each respective artist's best work. Anne-Marie sounds good especially on the bridge, KSI definitely shows his talent and extent of being a rapper, and DFA just uses simple production, yet makes it sound so cohesive.

4. Dua Lipa - We're Good*
Points: 102,153
Peak: #1 (3 weeks)
Weeks: 19

This song is just great, I don't know what to say. Dua definitely goes a bit more complex on her voice, but other than that, the production and instrumentals sound really good. Dua is able to just go with the production and that makes her voice fit, but show at the same time.

3. BUNT./Clarence Coffee Jr. - Unbreakable*
Points: 110,437
Peak: #1 (7 weeks) [2020] #1 (1 week) [2021]
Weeks: 21 (2020) 26 (2021)
YE 2020: #3

How convenient that this manages to be #3 for 2020 and 2021 thus far. You've seen me talk about this (and the next two) before, but this song just fits Avicii's style, and still can't get over that fact. It also holds the record for most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 which is around 45 weeks.

2. AJ Tracey/Mabel - West Ten*
Points: 196,608
Peak: #1 (5 weeks) [2020] #1 (3 weeks) [2021]
Weeks: 24 (2020) 26 (2021)
YE 2020: #6

At this rate, this song had reached the masterpiece tier for me on an all-time scale. This song is just never boring, and it's probably the high-energy vibe the song gives off. AJ shows off the same vibe with his voice and how he just drops line with such ease over a fast beat. Mabel and her showcasing of vocals just adds to the song itself, making this so well-rounded.

1. Dua Lipa/DaBaby - Levitating (Remix)*
Points: 198,109
Peak: #1 (7 weeks) [2020] #1 (9 weeks) [2021]
Weeks: 13 (2020) 26 (2021)
YE 2020: #11

Yeah, this song is definitely Top 10 of all-time for me. I mean, it's my all-time song since 2018, and progression will only make it competitive with songs earlier than 2018 that I loved for years. Everything about this is great, and every time this song comes on, I have to turn it up because it's so well balanced while being able to sound that good is crazy. DaBaby is just some extra spice for the song, but when I hear that first line from in at the beginning of the song, y'all better stfu because shit boutta go crazy. Also, to cover 16 weeks at #1 and be about 40 weeks in, is crazy in terms of coverage overall it passed the leader at #1 weeks Take What You Want despite falling short of the #1 record overall by 3 weeks. However, it still has viable chances since it's at #4 currently. We'll see what happens with this song's future on this chart.
